Milestone goals are funding and engagement checkpoints that will help keep you motivated and give you something to work towards. They're also a great way to get potential patrons excited about becoming a patron!
While goals are totally optional, about 75% of creators have them set up and see success. You may find, as some of our creators have discovered, that setting goals is a great way to get your Patreon membership business off the ground. Goals can also be used when your membership might have plateaued; in order to grow your patronage, promote a new goal with your larger online and real world audiences to drive interest to your membership business. We’re working with creators to bring you some solid case studies about how goals have helped to grow creative businesses of all sizes, so please stay tuned.
In the meantime, we encourage you to think about what sorts of things you would do or buy after hitting certain monetary milestones. Maybe there's a piece of equipment you've been eager to buy or a creation you will only have time to make once you're bringing in a certain monthly amount.
One thing to keep in mind while creating goals is that since Patreon is recurring funding for creators, goals will only be met when you have reached your target amount per month or per creation (depending on how you've set up your page).
